Pipped at the Post!

May 06, 2011

In a deceptive finish that had us convinced of a win, 4 year old World Wide, trained by Bede, just missed out on the glory of winning the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup. On 6 May 2011, the talented Universal Prince offspring was powering home but it was Voice Commander who took the lead in the very last stride to take the winning honours.

It was unfortunately the story of the Wagga meet for the Murray Racing Stables. Earlier that day Alma’s Fury, trained by Paul, suffered the same fate by coming in second to Southern Shimmer in the Wagga Guineas. The day before we saw Kenny’s World, trained by Graeme, also come in second to How Much My Love in the Wagga Town Plate.

The three feature races had a featured theme all of their own for the Murray boys. Paul summed up the results with the saying that says it all... “That’s racing”.
